Get Involved:
Refugees have lived with little and bring even less with them. When they arrive in Vermont, they need a place to live, a bed to sleep on, food to eat and clothes to wear. With help from the community, VRRP gives refugees the basics to begin to rebuild their lives in the Vermont.
Volunteer
Resettling refugees in our community from cultures around the globe involves many people. Volunteers with a high degree of integrity, compassion and flexibility are essential to easing refugees’ transition to self-sufficiency.
Opportunities to work directly with refugees: -
- Family Friend - assist newly-arrived families to adjust to life in Vermont.
- Job Search Coach assist with resumes and practicing interviewing skills.
- English Tutor assist clients in English language acquisition.
Opportunities to support refugee programs: (Work directly with staff and other volunteers.)
- Administrative support -- help with filing, etc. in the office.
- Event planning -- help to plan and prepare for community events.
- Fundraising -- help to organize and run a donation drive.
- Picking up donations -- transport larger donations to the VRRP warehouse.

It makes good business sense to help refugees get off to a good start. They bring tremendous energy and a strong work ethic to our community.

If you're considering providing services, we need services ranging from advertising events to cleaning office carpets.
Donate Cash
You can make a donation to the overall budget or choose a specific area you wish to support. Every donation helps, regardless of the amount.
- Make a monetary donation in honor or memory of someone special.
- Register for gifts with VRRP and share with refugees in your celebration.
- Write a check or make an on-line donation to VRRP.

Give Goods
VRRP depends entirely on donations of furniture, linens and housewares to furnish and equip a refugee’s first apartment. The needs are clear, the recipients are grateful. (Please also spread the word to your friends of what is needed.)

- Organize a drive to collect the small necessities of life for new refugees.

Give Your Time
No one can change the world and eliminate the injustices people suffer, but you can offer meaningful help to refugees. There is much that you can do to enhance the work begun by VRRP’s staff.
- Opportunities to work directly with refugees
- Have a good head for numbers? Help refugees with financial literacy.
- Practice law or accounting? Use your expertise to serve refugees. Opportunities to work directly with VRRP staff
- Have a truck and a strong back? Help us pick up large donations.
- Know how to wash windows and clean carpets? We need your help.
