A Refugee Poem

The best part of my job is helping a refugee family have the chance to start a new life. They no longer have to fear for their safety and can put all their energy into building a better future.

The Lian family, Burmese Chin refugees, arrived in Raleigh in late summer, unsure of what opportunities were available in their new community. While it has not always been easy for them, today their son is in high school, Luang is working at Alsco linen cleaning company and his wife is doing general housekeeping at a local mall.

I want to share the beautiful poem Luang wrote to say thanks for the help and opportunity that they have received.
