The U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants Supports American Civic Association in the Wake of the Tragic Shooting

The U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) is shocked and saddened by the shooting at the American Civic Association of Binghamton, New York, one of our partner agencies.  American Civic Association has been serving refugees and immigrants in the community since 1939.  Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and the Binghamton community.

The American Civic Association is dedicated to helping new immigrants and refugees become part of the fabric of American life.  American Civic Association offers services to help these newcomers, many of whom have fled war and conflict in other countries, build new lives in the U.S.

We know the entire community of Binghamton will rally around the American Civic Association, the people it serves and, in particular, the victims and their families. USCRI stands ready to assist.  We have begun by establishing an American Civic Association Fund to assist in the community’s recovery.

Founded in 1911, USCRI is the nation’s oldest and largest non-sectarian network of nonprofit organizations serving immigrants, refugees and other foreign-born people.  USCRI, through its 29 agencies and four field offices, has resettled a quarter million refugees in the last two decades.
